The region boasts over 150 lakes, including one of Western Canada’s largest inland marina (Cold Lake) and Alberta’s 6th and 7th largest lakes. Over 50% of the sport fish caught in Alberta are taken in the Alberta HUB region and 20% of Alberta’s white sand beaches are found here.

We have seven provincial parks, 10 provincial recreation areas and 20 golf courses. There are also over 300 species of birds, with Lac La Biche being known as the provincial Bird Sanctuary.

The region is a smorgasbord for those seeking an active lifestyle including skiing, swimming, camping, hiking, running clubs, and bird watching, to name a few. Local communities also offer family-centric team activities through organized community clubs such as hockey, basketball, volleyball, ringette, swimming lessons, splash pads, child play parks, etc.
