Our regional economic development alliance believes in the necessity of encouraging regional collaboration and building relationships that extend beyond our borders. These effective partnerships ensure our region will continue to prosper.

By encouraging investment, pursuing labor force development and municipal collaboration Alberta HUB is able to build on the region’s current levels of activity and work towards enhancing the region’s already enviable quality of life.

Alberta HUB strives to increase knowledge and information exchange between its 29 members and to support the individual and collective initiatives of each. Our region enjoys a diverse economy with a wide range of investment and business opportunities. I encourage you to explore our region and discover its opportunities.

BizPal

Alberta HUB is committed to building a stronger northeast region for both current and future generations.  In support of this, Alberta HUB in conjunction with the Ministry of Service Alberta is promoting implementation of BizPaL.

BizPaL is an online service that simplifies the permit, license and other regulatory requirements for small business entrepreneurs. Easy and convenient, BizPaL provides Alberta small businesses with one-stop access to permit and license information from all levels of government (Federal, Provincial and Municipal).  BizPaL provides business clients with the information they need to meet all permit and license requirements quickly and efficiently to start their business.

BizPaL has received awards across Canada – most recently, the 2009 a Gold Alberta Premier’s Award of Excellence, which honors superior client service, and business excellence.  BizPaL has also received strong support from the small business community, including the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), the Business Link and local Chambers of Commerce.

BizPaL helps local governments in their ongoing efforts to boost efficiency and enhance customer service. This is done by enabling business clients to do much of the research on permits and licensing requirements themselves prior to contacting their local Municipality, Provincial or Federal Ministry. BizPaL can significantly reduce government involvement and expense, while improving the service experience for clients.  There is no cost for local governments to participate in BizPaL, only a small time commitment during the initial stages.  The program could be implemented within your municipality in a very short time.

There are currently dozens of municipalities across Alberta offering BizPaL to local businesses.  Alberta HUB encourages you to be among the next set of municipalities to offer this service for small business growth in your community.

Key Benefits:

  • Increased compliance — Businesses gain a better idea of their obligations and have all the information they need to meet them.
  • Gain a competitive advantage — BizPaL streamlines the business permit and license process to make your municipality more attractive to business. This can directly benefit your economy.
