Our Community is home to approximately 2378 members of which 600 are off-reservation and 1778 reside on the reservation. Whitefish Lake First Nations #128 community is located in the north-eastern part of Alberta covering 50 sq kms. The community is known for being friendly and welcoming, working together to make a better place for our future generations by building partnerships. Leadership is positive and encouraging to our community members to think globally, by investing in our education, heath, and wellness. They are actively pursuing and creating opportunities for children, youth and families for successful and happiness.
Visitors to our community will find that people are open, friendly and helpful. Community events are scheduled year round that are fun and entertaining. During the summer month, families can be seen enjoying themselves at the Whitefish lake beach playing in the sand, swimming, playing beach volleyball and enjoying the Canada day celebrations with our nation. We host annual celebration days that provide action and fun for the whole family with: rodeo, races, talent show, ball tournaments, and special entertainment that include a great fireworks display.
The leadership recognizes the need for healthy lifestyle and provides opportunities to enjoy healthy activities that are planned by the community members. Staff, parents and dedicated volunteers who coach baseball, hockey, and organize recreation leagues for seasonal events. Other opportunities for youth include cadets, taekwondo, and various youth programs.
